There is a need to accelerate action and the process for more equitable and people-centered forest management with the development and reform of policies to support tenure, forest product harvesting and regulation, livelihood generation, conflict resolution, the maintenance or restoration of ecological services , global climate change mitigation, and the capacity of forest-based communities to withstand shocks, environmental and otherwise.
1. To develop and support strategic and effective approaches to strengthen community forestry through promoting local rights and tenure to be adopted among key institutions and actors in ASEAN region.
2. To support the rationalization of arguments for local involvement in forest management and clear roadmaps for moving it forward nationally and regionally, particularly at policy level.
